SMALL businesses are missing "huge opportunities" by not going online, as new figures reveal that more than half of Australias smaller operators dont have a website.
While almost all (95.5 per cent) larger companies have a web presence, just 43 per cent of businesses with less than 20 employees are online, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics figures released yesterday.
The Business Use of Information Technology report also showed that even fewer - 26 per cent - are using the web to sell their products.

Council of Small Business of Australia head Peter Strong says that websites can be simple and cheap to set up and will open the doors to a lot more customers.
“If you’re not on the internet they [customers] can’t find you,” Mr Strong said. “You really should have a very simple website and you can get them for next to nothing.”
